Lately, I’ve gotten a “Hitler Invades Russia” feeling about the latest war.
America is not on the side of the angels.
No one is.
The religious extremists among Israeli Jews, Iranian Muslims and American Evangelicals are killing each other over fossil fuels, which technology has made obsolete. Each does it on behalf of a patriarchy. All three subordinate women to men. They should be allies.
The same with the President. His faith is Epsteinism, the idea that the role of women in the world is primarily sexual, that they are slaves to this nature or must be made slaves.
The difference between Epsteinism and these other patriarchal movements escapes me.
The great lesson of the computing age, from World War II to today, is that women are just as capable as men. Men must change to gain that benefit, and it’s a huge benefit. I call it growing up.
But little boys don’t wanna. The point of Epstein’s madness, or Trumpian plastic surgery, is to make little boys comfortable in their mediocrity. When young men insist, as they do in polls, that they prefer “traditional” sexual roles and mores, they’re supporting Epsteinism in disguise.
It’s hard to change, and to treat all people as just people. It’s the hardest work you’ll ever do. This has been hard for me, and I have been far from a perfect student. But without engaging in that work you’re no more than an animal, whether the ritual you use to ignore it is based on rape, or politics, or on prayer.
The 21st century has no dog in this fight. (Or do we?)
