Right on schedule in our generational crisis, we have reached the Time of Paranoia.
The Time of Paranoia is when otherwise-rational people start to see dark forces descending, preparing to destroy their world and everything in it.
In the case of our time, we fear George W. Bush. Executive orders meant for "just in case" (created by crazy government bureaucrats for loony government leaders) are being spun as evidence of a coup. And not just by liberals, but by once-respected conservatives as well, such as Paul Craig Roberts (right).
I’m sorry, but I have to laugh. Hasn’t Iraq taught us anything? It is impossible to occupy a people against their will. And this goes double for Americans.
There’s an assumption abroad that what we couldn’t do in Iraq we could do here, because Saddam Hussein did it in Iraq for decades and because Robert Mugabe did it in Zimbabwe for years. But Saddam had help — mainly our help but later (as the Bush people were fond of documenting before we invaded) Russian and German and French help. That help came only because Saddam had something those "friends" thought they could loot — oil wealth. We’re importers. Mugabe, like other African dictators, is just too insignificant to care about — and Africa won’t advance as a continent until they do what we won’t, namely hang Mugabe.
Just in case, there is something Americans, left and right, do need to say to George W. Bush right now, something we need to get through his thick skull before he does something really stupid.
I don’t think he will, because at the end of the day the one distinguishing character trait of George W. Bush is cowardice. He has always been a coward, and always will be a coward. So let’s take advantage of that fact, for the sake of the country.
What follows is addressed to the President.
You can’t get away with it.
You try a coup and we will kill you. We will kill your family. All the wealth of that family, going back generations, will be seized. Whoever survives will wander the world in exile for life. They will be forced to change their names, as Hitler’s descendants did.
And the same with Mr. Cheney.
You can’t occupy
Iraq against the people’s will. What makes you think you can occupy
America against our will?
How many of our military are really loyal to
the Bush regime, as opposed to the Constitution? How many cops, after all
these years of Bush failure? How many NRA members are there, and how many
Democrats?
Mr. Bush, if you move toward dictatorship, real dictatorship, we will kill you. And your
family. And Cheney and Cheney’s family. And all those in your circle. Didn’t
the fall of Saddam Hussein teach you anything? The way Saddam’s troops
melted away because no one believed in him anymore?
And is the faith
of Americans in America so shallow, so brittle, that we would believe it
possible for any dictator to occupy this land and abuse its people
indefinitely? Do we really think Americans will surrender their inalienable rights — life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness — to some tinpot Texan?
C’mon. Think you’re going to occupy South LA, let alone West Virginia? Anyone know how many gang members there are, how many guns in how many houses? Anyone know how much knowledge there is in the land of bomb-making, how many bright minds we have who would gladly pick up that knowledge and spread it if dictatorship fell on us?
Sheesh…
Mr. President, if you’re reading this, watch the following video closely. If you turn America into a dictatorship, this will be you. Maybe in one year, maybe two, but however long it takes, this is your future if you dare shred our Constitution. And that of everyone close to you.
There are 300 million of us. We’re America. The land of the free and the home of the brave. Those aren’t just words.
Great. Now Jesse and I are going to get visits from the people who worry about counterfeit money. Thanks Dana. Here is my letter…
To whom it may concern,
I just comment here. And unless he is talking about Mike Vick or the tag, I totally disagree. Honestly, I’ve never even met the guy!
Sincerely,
Brad
